How to Join

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Georgia (BOMA Georgia) is a trade association representing one of the largest and most revenue-generating industries in the state: commercial real estate. In Georgia, commercial real estate contributes approximately $3.7 billion to the state’s economy; generates nearly $1.1 billion in new taxable personal earnings and supports nearly 99,000 jobs.

BOMA Georgia members are responsible for the ownership/management and administration of more than 150 million square feet of office space and additional millions of square feet of facilities throughout Georgia. These individuals represent building ownership, professional property management firms, professional service providers and contract services, including construction, cleaning services, security services, elevator maintenance and more than 40 other categories of specialty services. Our members have 24-hour-a-day responsibility for the safety, physical well-being and security of hundreds of thousands of employees housed in the office buildings, office parks and other facilities managed by this industry.

BOMA Technical Organization

The BOMA Technical Organization (BTO) gives building engineers the opportunity to grow professionally while becoming more involved in the industry. Individuals who may join the BTO are building engineers and others with similar responsibilities.

  • Educational Training: Building engineers who are BTO members receive free educational training each quarter through BTO Luncheons. BOMA Georgia also provides a free educational breakfast for BTO members in conjunction with the annual BOMA Show trade show. Additionally, building engineers may enroll in the Building Engineering 101 Certificate Course, helping both new and veteran engineers study foundational and emerging practices and technology in the industry.
  • Commercial HVAC Program: Designed for building engineers, the Commercial HVAC program is a unique partnership between BOMA Georgia and Chattahoochee Technical College. The program offers building engineers a five-semester program where courses are topic-specific and may be taken out of sequence. Individuals who complete each of the five semesters in the program earn a Commercial HVAC certificate from Chattahoochee Tech and BOMA Georgia.
  • Professional Designations: Through a partnership with BOMI International, BOMA Georgia offers two professional designations for building engineers: the Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) and the Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA). Receiving a BOMI designation grants a mark of distinction and provides the skills to grow both personally and professionally.
  • Industry Information: During quarterly BTO luncheons and the annual BTO BOMA Show breakfast, members receive up-to-date knowledge of key issues affecting the operational efficiency and profitability of buildings. BTO members also receive up-to-date information on key issues affecting the operational efficiency and profitability of real estate through the bi-monthly BOMA Georgia eNewsletter; quarterly magazine, Insight: The Commercial Real Estate Journal; and BOMA and BOMA Buzz Video. Finally, each year, BOMA Georgia also provides safety training seminars for building engineers.

Students

Student membership is open to anyone with an interest in property management who is actively enrolled in any accredited institution of higher education. No person shall qualify for student membership for more than four years, consecutively or non-consecutively. Any person who has previously been a member of BOMA Georgia or BOMA-Atlanta is not eligible for student membership.
