The Building Engineers of the New Decade: How to Attract, Retain, and Motivate Talent in 2020

During this BTO webinar, Cher Brister will discuss the challenges of attracting new talent, engaging and retaining talent, and what motivates building engineers today. In 2020, building engineers are required to have different skills and knowledge than in the past. With the technological transformation of buildings over the past generation, there is a great need to transition from hiring skilled labor to perform maintenance tasks, to the requirement of attracting and training new talent that can take on the challenges of providing high-tech, full service, experience-based workplaces. With a new job description, and an upcoming workforce to build the next generation of engineers from, there comes new challenges. How can we attract individuals with the soft skills and technical aptitude? How can we keep them engaged and provide a satisfying career? What are the driving factors that influence and motivate our Engineers? We will discuss the challenges of recruiting new talent and where to look, tools and resources to engage engineers, and how a work/life balance is crucial to overall success.
